A few of the responsibilities for the Public Relations Manager

The Public Relations Manager will work with the Communications Director and VP of Marketing to build and manage a boutique in-house PR agency focused on select company markets and business units. This position will maintain a favorable and positive public image for Berkadia by communicating programs, accomplishments, and/or points of view.

Build - Develop and implement policies and procedures for the overall public relations effort within the external communications team. Build media lists targeted to each internal client's goals. Develop media kits to aid in the publicity of these subject matter experts. 

Prepare - Prepare and distribute news releases, fact sheets, scripts, etc. to media outlets. Review all forms of communications prior release to ensure accuracy and appropriateness of message and manage their release. 

Indentify/Evaluate - Identify events and other venues where speaking or demo appearances align with goals, assists with the bookings and prepares the speaker and their support team to ensure slides, collateral, presentation materials, etc. are in place for each engagement.

Goals/Milestones - Ensure that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Some of the necessary skills for the position


To be considered for this role, there are some minimum qualifications that must be met:

  • A Bachelor’s degree is required; A major in a Business-related or Communications field of study is preferred, but not necessary.

  • At least 5 years of experience in public relations. Specific experience in pitching and engaging with members of the media, and ability to build and maintain relationships with the press necessary.

  • Extensive knowledge of public relations processes and best practices required.

  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Direct experience in a commercial real estate company’s public relations department strongly preferred.

  • And finally, you should be passionate and motivated and can work well within a team and adapt to a rapidly changing, dynamic environment.
